The 7th Winter Asian Game’s flame was lit in Astana, Kazakhstan on the 30th January, 2011 — truly a remarkable event, bringing together sportsmen from all over Asia.
This occasion was very significant for the people of Kazakhstan and Globalink was ever present with its logistics solutions to assist and manage this event with great success. For the Opening Ceremony of Asian Games Globalink was requested to participate in managing the transportation of various equipments, such as pyrotechnics and Olympic torch bowl from multiple locations worldwide to Astana, Kazakhstan. There was no room for error due to strict time deadlines. Therefore, Globalink first consolidated the cargo at Amsterdam and Singapore hubs and then chartered a couple of 747 Freighters to Almaty. Upon arrival Globalink’s team of more than 50 people was already in place to transfer the cargo to Astana — the "capital" of Asian Winter Games. Getting the equipment transported back within 3 days after the Games was as critical as delivering it to the Olympic stadium. Within hours of the closing ceremony we collected and packed the cargo for the transportation back to its destinations worldwide. Unfavorable weather conditions as well as time pressure did not deter our spirit or diminish the quality of cargo transportation management. International media declared the Asian Winter Games a success for Kazakhstan and Globalink is proud to be a part of this success.
